The York Rose Singers

The choir has its origins in the York Celebrations Choir, formed in 1971 to celebrate the founding of Eboracum by the Romans in 71AD. By the late eighties, the choir, which by then had about 50 members, was re-named the York Rose Singers.

The choir sings a wide range of music from the sacred works of William Byrd to concert versions of operettas and songs from the shows. The choir is a registered charity and is a member of the National Federation of Music Societies, 'Making Music'.

Rehearsals are on a Wednesday evening at St. Wilfred's Primary School, York. New members are always welcome. For further details please contact either John on 01904 489860 or Carol on 01904 797387.
